Taiwan Pre-Grad Trip Day 1 (7-13 Dec 2009)

16 12 2009

It’s the Day 1 of my Taiwan Pre-Grad Trip.. In the morning.. Ard 6.30am, kelvin and I went to take a cab to Changi Airport to avoid the jam and ERP despite the fact that the flight timing was at 10.30am..

At ard 8.30am, we checked in our luggage and went to the staff canteen with Lester’s parents to have breakfast.. Lester’s parents were no strangers to me as I’ve met them umpteen times for lk projects and games day..

So here we are at the ‘Secret Staff Canteen’ @ Changi Airport..

Food here is of acceptable pricing as compared to the exorbitant prices at other parts of Changi Airport..

Preparing to leave SG..

Waiting inside the gate..

China Airlines flight CI0752 departed at 10:30am. There was a delay of about 45 minutes because one of the runway in Changi Airport was closed to allow another airplane to do emergency landing.

Awesome Entertainment System.. U can see front and top down camera views while in flight!

The movies are quite new too.. Like this District 9.. (must note that District 9 is still showing in Taiwan)

Chicken Rice.. Too much gravy for my liking..

Lester say this taste not bad..

Reaching Taipei..

Landed and reached Tao Yuan International Airport Terminal One at about 3.30pm..

Welcome to Taiwan..

Changing money..

We heard that Taiwan’s Exchange rate is better than SG.. This is actually true.. But it’s not this counter.. It’s the counter just b4 leaving the arrival gate.. But first time in Terminal 1.. So we dunno about it.. This counter only offers exchange rate equivalent to SG Suntec ba.. Still good actually..

Sorting out cash..

Gay photo b4 boarding the FreeGo Bus to our hotel.. FreeGo bus cost only NT$240 for round trip and stops directly in front of our hotel..

Applied for the Youth Travel Pass to enjoy discounts at tourists destinations.. It’s not quite useful for us cos we didnt go much paid tourist destinations except Taipei 101..

On the way to the hotel..

Reached Neijiang hotel @ 5.30pm.. It’s a very good and value for money hotel I must say.. Thumbs up for the recommendations from HWZ peeps.. and my research.. lol..

Checking in..

Room rates for on the spot booking.. We are staying in 内江套房.. Cost NT$2380/nite..

Reaching our room..

Keys..

Super clean and neat room..

Tried to setup our beloved tool to stay connected with the world.. Too bad the voltage is different.. Cannot use.. Used ICS instead..

A common setup for 4 computer geeks in a room.. lol..

First thing we did in the hotel.. Was to TWEET!

Setup our skype to call back Singapore..

After staying in our room for 1hr+, we went out to have dinner..

西门町,台北

Dinner was at SG’s favourite restaurant, Modern Toilet (便所主题餐厅) located in Ximending (西門町)..

Modern Toilet Beef Curry..

Pork Hot Pot..

Modern Toilet Pork Curry..

Modern Toilet Combination Hot Pot (Beef)..

Cover to cover the soup..

Delicious Ice Cream!

After dinner, we went for a leisure walk ard 西门町 to digest our food.. It’s very filling..

In89 Digital Cinema..

Rainbow hotel.. At first we decided to stay here as the location was the best.. But lucky we cannot book this in time.. It isn’t really that great and it’s overpriced.. Just that its location is super good.. But ours was just 1 street away too.. Isn’t that bad ba.. haha..

Outside Sophisca..

The famous 阿宗面线.. Still as crowded as always.. But this is not overhyped.. It really taste very good..

So taiwanese are so orderly bcos they are a ‘fine’ city too?

After walking ard.. We decided to buy some of our favourite stuff back to the hotel to eat.. And we bought this..

My favourite 泡面.. .. I love it!

And that’s Day 1.. Wanted to rest early for the nite to prepare for Day 2.. But in the end we cannot slp.. And it’s worse for me.. I only slpt at 5+am.. Because of the nice orchestra performed in the middle of the nite in the room.. I’m a super light sleeper.. Any light or noise and I find it hard to slp.. Bad thing ya..

Now to Day 2.. 阿宗面线, Mr.J Restaurant, Taipei 101, 纽约纽约, 星光三越, 鼎泰丰, 师大夜市..

Haha.. Well I try my best to reply your questions.. Hope it helps..

1) The webby is http://www.neijiang-hotel.com.tw/, it has the phone number inside, the location is stated as well, but it’s near ximen station and ximending if you like to shop!

2) Payment can be done by cash when you reach there.

3) For week in advance, it depends, you can try calling and ask, for my time, it’s about 1 month+ in advance..

I always spent my half an hour to read this web site’s content every day along with a mug of coffee.
